Caroline Penhale, Campus Minister
The Campus Minister serves students who are looking for Christian engagement and a community to support and encourage them throughout their university years.
Caroline Penhale serves as United Church Campus Minister at UBC. She is connected to University Hill Congregation, and her ministry involves ensuring that students, staff, faculty, and residents of the UBC area, who are connected with or would like to become connected with the United Church of Canada, find the best community to join in worship, discipleship, practice and service.
Caroline is available to meet with you to talk about whatever is on your mind, especially if you have questions about spirituality, faith, ethics, or life in general. She is always happy to meet over a cup of coffee or tea and lend a listening ear.
Caroline is also the co-Executive Director of Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries in Vancouver, BC and the Project Coordinator for the New Ways to Sing Praise International Hymn Writing Competition at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church.
Caroline lives in Vancouver with her husband, Guy and their adorable dog, Riley.

Ryan Slifka, Program Assistant
The chaplaincy program assistant provides support to the Campus Ministry for UCC Campus Ministry programs and provides leadership for Monday night studies when the Campus Minister is unable to.
Ryan was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Raised in a non-religious/spiritual household, he began attending Knox United Church in downtown Calgary in his early twenties. Now he is studying at Vancouver School of Theology with the intent of pursuing ordained ministry in the United Church of Canada.
Ryan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Calgary and lives on campus with his wife, Cheyenne and son Walt.
